Being that May is Mental Health Month, this horrific incident only highlights the lack of education and empathetic tolerance to people who suffer from a spectrum of mental illness. When the condition is stigmatized by our culture and community, sufferers can internalize it, believing that they are bad people because no one reaches out to them. This young man suffered as well. It’s up to us to help those who are suffering get the help they need.
