Why American Schools Are Segregated Again

As a “student” of secondary/higher education and a lifelong educator, I agree wholeheartedly with this following post. The Brown vs Board of Education decision was supposed to even out the academic playing field for minorities so people like my parents could get a quality education and pursue the American Dream. But these days, a new generation of children are growing up in an educational system that is not preparing them for post-secondary pursuits and the ultra-competitive global job market. Luckily, there have been some reforms made thanks to Secretary Arne Duncan in the Department of Education. I just hope that the systematic shifts get made in enough time to thoroughly make a difference for these disenfranchised young people.

Very Interesting.
