Astronaut gives inspirational speech to his old university from space

Students graduating from university want one of two things from a graduation ceremony speech: for it to either be short or really interesting.

Engineering graduates from University of Connecticut were definitely treated to a truly different commencement address from astronaut alumnus, Rick Mastracchio, while he orbited earth.

Mr Mastracchio joked to the 400 graduates and the 5000 families and friends that he did not know whether to give the speech upside down before spinning upright in the weightless environment of the International Space Station.

He said: ‘I probably have the best job on and off the planet.’
