Richard Sherman says NFL wouldn’t have banned Donald Sterling

Richard Sherman believes that if Donald Sterling were an NFL owner, the league would have handled his racist remarks differently than the NBA did.

In an interview with Time Magazine, Sherman, who signed a four-year, $56-million contract extension with the Seattle Seahawks this week, was asked if he thought NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell would have reacted the same way his NBA counterpart Adam Silver did by banning Sterling for life.

“No I don’t,” he said. “Because we have an NFL team called the Redskins. I don’t think the NFL really is as concerned as they show. The NFL is more of a bottom line league. If it doesn’t affect their bottom line, they’re not as concerned.”

Sherman also said he wasn’t surprised by Sterling’s comments because of the criticism he faced following his Michael Crabtree rant after the NFC title game.
