Referees let Spurs play with 6 men on the floor in crunch time

For The Win

The Dallas Mavericks kept their season alive with a close Game 6 win over the Spurs Friday — even though San Antonio had a little bit of help from the officials in the final second.

The Mavericks were clinging to a 113-111 lead with 1.3 seconds to play, and the Spurs needed a miracle inbound play from under their own basket. Boris Diaw checked in to heave the ball downcourt, but five Spurs were already on the floor. No one noticed until after Monta Ellis deflected Diaw’s pass out of bounds.

Fortunately, the missed call didn’t cost Dallas the game. Game 7 will be played Sunday in San Antonio.
